Sorry for the lack of posting lately, things have been quite crazy around here since our three household goods shipments arrived. Finding room for all of our American-sized things in our Japan-sized home is no joke! Luckily, we were able to purchase a big industrial rack from Costco for all of our appliances…
It has over doubled our storage space and makes it SO much easier to find everything. Here is what else has been happening in the Drapes house:
- I was blessed with the opportunity to help host a baby shower for one of our good friends this last weekend! She is going to be having a little girl in October, and is one of my first friends who lives near me to have a baby! Even though several friends back home in Montana have started their families, I haven’t gotten to be there along the way – so Im super excited for this! She is such a fun and spunky little lady, we all had a great time 🙂
—- One baby shower game that was a big hit was “Who’s That Baby?” where the guests had to match the celebrity name to the baby picture…
- My birthday!!! The bulk of my shipment from Portland showed up and was a great present! Even though I spent most of the day unpacking boxes, Josh was able to come home early and we went for a bike ride (because my bike came in the shipment) — It was AWESOME! Then Josh took me to Sushi Row (conveyor belt sushi place), which was… interesting? Later that night we went to Shad a gooey brownie pudding made in the crock pot, topped with Ice cream (also awesome!)
…Check out the cute cartoon in that last picture! Ha ha!
- We went to a “fondue” place in the mall on Friday- this ended up being more like a “deep fry your entire meal” place, which ended with cream puffs dipped in a chocolate fountain and placed on vanilla ice cream. There were many various types of meat/seafood/veggies (including lotus root) which you dip in batter, roll in bread crumbs and then deep fry in a oil bath in the middle of the table. It was fun to try, but resulted in extreme tummy ache leading us to repeat various forms of the phrase “never again.”
Today I FINALLY got the last of the boxes unpacked and got the downstairs all settled. It has been super fun to get to use all the wedding presents we received almost 2 years ago! I got to use my Kitchen Aid mixer for the first time to make a Fig, prosciutto, and brie flat bread for the Baby shower (recipe to come!)- the Hubby gave it “At least a 7 out of 10” – Which is a big score for something that contains so many “girly” ingredients!!
How have you been lately? Anyone getting ready for school to start?!
